What are the benefits of Employment-Based SCITT?

Cost-effective training

At a low daily rate fixed for the duration of 2 years, you get a trainee teacher and upon completion a qualified teacher all in one package.

Shape your own

The trainee teachers will be working in your school full time for 2 years. This is an excellent opportunity to shape their teaching philosophy to match your school ethos.

Increase retention

Recruitment and retention can be resolved because trainee teachers can be offered a role at the end of the programme. By then you know if they’re a suitable fit for your school.

Decision making

You can make a decision over a longer period of time. Use the first year to decide whether the candidate is suitable for your school, with no commitment.

Frequently asked questions

Our selection process is a combination of rigorous background checks, including an enhanced DBS, references, Barred list and NCTL checks, in combination with a competency based interview, and an English and Maths test. Once settled in the school, the candidate will undergo a further interview to be accepted on the PGCE course

The school will commit to using the candidate in line with our experience progression model to build their skills prior to the start of the PGCE year. During terms 4-6, the school will assign an NQT mentor, and follow the process outlined. We also expect the school to provide the candidate access to the whole school CPD provided to permanent members of staff. We also require you to assign a mentor to the candidate, similar to any trainee teacher. We will provide all training necessary for mentor. The trainee teacher will also be required to work in another school for 6 weeks during year 2 of the programme. We ask that you host another trainee teacher from another school during this time.

The training in year one introduces teaching and behaviour management skills. In year two, they will follow an accredited PGCE programme. Training is provided via a blended mix of web-based technology, face to face and 1-1 coaching/mentoring and residential study weeks.

After successfully completing the two year programme, the school has 3 options: 1. Release the NQT if there is no need in the school 2. Employ the candidate on a FTC or permanent contract with no introduction fee 3. Keep the teacher on a supply basis.

If the candidate is deemed unsuitable for your school or chooses to leave mid-programme then there is no extra charge. We will if required, find a suitable mid-programme replacement.

We do! The price you pay per day, covers all fees, from PGCE costs to paying the trainee teacher, and all associated costs.
