We are currently on the look-out for a suitable teacher to work as a Home Tutor in central Birmingham. This role will involve working closely with children with special needs – including children with ASD, PMLD, EBD, and sensory impairments – who require 1:1 home tutoring for various reasons (e.g. too poorly to attend school, regular hospital visits, school phobias, or awaiting a school place).
Adhering to the relevant Education, Health and Care Plan (previously known as an SEND statement), the successful candidate will need to adapt their teaching style to meet each child’s academic, personal, and social needs. Previous SEND experience is therefore essential, including at least 4 months’ obtained within the last year, and you must have a flexible and sensitive approach to your role as a teacher.
– QTS or equivalent
– Minimum 3 months experience within a special school setting
– Driving license (Preferred)
– Ability to plan engaging lesson plans and have high expectations for students learning
– Restraint training (Preferred)
– Valid DBS which is ideally on the update service or prepared to apply for a new one
