This is an exciting and diverse role with a lot of freedom to incorporate your own ideas as as an outreach team based in the London Borough of Newham are currently seeking a teacher experienced working with autistic children to work through various mainstream schools.
Your role is to go from school to school within the borough and adapt the working environment and tasks to the needs of the children who are on the Autistic Spectrum. You are required to check in on a weekly basis to ensure their regime it being sustained, helping them progress to their highest potential within a mainstream setting.
You will be working from a base at a primary school in East Ham with all the resources and facilities you need to produce the materials you need. You will also be responsible for working with the student’s parents and TAs. For the parents, this may be the first time that they are hearing their child is Autistic, therefore the ability to support them is key, providing strategies, structured plans and routines.
We are looking for someone with;
– QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
– Experience and strong understanding of SCERTS
– Experience and passion of working with special needs, either in mainstream or SEN schools
– Enhanced DBS
